MIXED- MEDIA EMBROIDERY ART

When I lived in Guatemala City, I discovered and studied a unique Central America embroidery technique that displays the embroidery like a painting. This combined artistic technique began with Mrs. Julita Cabrera in the 1970 decade in Guatemala.

 ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA - REPRODUCTION
Oil/Embroidery: 17" x 22" ; Frame: 28" x 33"

After applying the design on canvas or silk, start painting a portrait, landscape or picture in oil or acrylic leaving spaces for the embroidery with bright colored wool or metallic threads giving the work a three-dimensional effect.

This is part of my artwork. I hope you enjoyed this exiting technique.
