ART IN THE GARDEN 2013

One of my work was accepted into the  Art in the Garden 2013, at the Deborah Beggs Moncrief Garden Center, Fort Worth's Fall Gallery Night, but for personal reasons I was out of the country and could not participate. I hope to be part of this extraordinary event next year.

The Palette of Roses 61th. Annual Show 2013

As a member of the Palette of Roses (PORAL) , I would like to invite all of you to the 61th Annual Show 2013. The Show is part of the Tyler Rose Festival and will be at the Rose Complex Building  East Texas Fairground, Tyler, TX.

Art Walk, Tyler, TX

The Art Walk Committee of Tyler, TX has selected me as one of the participating artist for the April 6, 2013 Downtown Tyler Art Walk!

METAL EMBOSSING ARTWORK

Another of my passions is the Metal Embossing Artwork.

 

Embossing is a Metal Art whereby metal is worked to create raised surfaces or lettering (three dimensional reliefs) on sheet metal such as tin, aluminum, copper, or silver. The Metal Art displayed is made on aluminum. I  had  two professors one from Mexico and the other from Costa Rica .

The metal images are worked in a series of steps. It is done by working with tools of different sizes and shapes from the underside of the piece on a soft surface that will allow the gradual deformation of the surface. The different tools used are made of wood, Teflon, and/or metal and are such as but not limited to stylus embossing, stamping, and/or texturing tools.

 

The areas first worked are the ones that get the higher or lower profile sides. Once the relief is completed the backside is filled with resin that hardens keeping the shape of the relief. When dried, the piece is then mounted onto a wood frame, glass or other material that gives the desired character.

 

The final step is the application of the patina or metal colors to art piece giving it shades, volume, and/or a great definition.

 

Metal Art is called Embossing in English, Repousse in French, and Repujado in Spain.

MIXED- MEDIA EMBROIDERY ART

When I lived in Guatemala City, I discovered and studied a unique Central America embroidery technique that displays the embroidery like a painting. This combined artistic technique began with Mrs. Julita Cabrera in the 1970 decade in Guatemala.

After applying the design on canvas or silk, start painting a portrait, landscape or picture in oil or acrylic leaving spaces for the embroidery with bright colored wool or metallic threads giving the work a three-dimensional effect.
